Workshops and SeminarsPSE Consultancy is a specialist support organisation specialising in public speaking and running workshops. These workshops are usually one day long and include the following: 1. Cultural CapitalThe consultancy can run seminars or give presentations on the meaning and use of cultural capital. Seminars can also be run with communities to enable them to identify their own cultural capital and work out ways to use it for the benefit of all citizens. 2. Community resource audit identification The Consultancy conducts simple workshops with communities to enable them to identify the points of difference and social capital. Then by using this material the consultancy links these resources to identify ways to develop these resources sustainably for the benefit of all within the communities. 3. Cultural mapping for communities There are many forms of cultural mapping. The process used by PSE consultancy engages people from throughout an area to identify what are the myths, ideologies, values and rituals that make the particular community special. The map will direct attention to the cultural diversity, and suggest ways to develop it in line with community expectations and support. 4. Fundraising and strategic planning This seminar covers the fundamentals of planning and then moves to fundraising. The strategic planning leads an organisation to focus how it raises funds and why. The seminar covers:
5. Resource auditing for organisations or businesses It is a similar process to cultural mapping for communities. This process works with stakeholders of an organisation or a business and identifies the cultural style. It looks at the rituals and values. The seminar participants then design strategies that could improve work behaviours and processes associated with their work environment. This process can increase productivity, but more important, it also enhances cultural well-being for the organisation or business. 6. Understanding cultural well-being Cultural well-being is a buzz-word associated with the four pillars of sustainable development. Cultural well-being is a process that recognises myths, ideologies, values, behaviours and rituals which define any group or culture. This seminar covers the meanings of the word culture, of well-being, and then examines the dynamics that are involved when cultures come together. It also looks at the residual, dominant and emerging characteristics of any culture and then discusses the spark of human creativeness that influences cultural change and processes. 7. Cost Centre Budgeting methods This half day workshop explains why Cost Centre budgets work and gives and overview on how to formulate a Cost Centre budget that will work for your organisation or business. The seminar is for all staff, not just management staff. The system ensures that all staff of the organisation, understand how income is generated and spent and then what is achieved, by transparent disclosure of income and expenditure. 8. Setting up creative spaces The other seminar conducted by PSE Consultancy is associated with the development of a third place for people on the margins of society. These third places are sometimes called "Creative Spaces" and the model was developed by Dr Julia Aranui Faed and Penny Eames in 1987 at Cherry Farm Psychiatric Hospital and then further developed alongside other Creative Spaces in New Zealand. Creative Spaces are arts workshops. They can cater for as many as 700 people a week. Arts industry development, independence, celebration of cultures of people with disabilities are all part of the process. |
